Stuck Inside

Posted by Gaylord Campbell

With the seasons changing, our weather has been unusually gloomy for about a week now. I usually love to be outside walking, running, biking or hiking every chance I get, but with this gray weather, I just haven’t been in the mood. Lately I’ve been watching much more television than normal and I’m pretty unimpressed with the programming on all the major networks. I’ll flip around for 20 minutes before settling on something that is interesting enough to watch. I think I’ve seen Kim Kardashian say “I do” about 5 times already. When I’m not watching television, I’ve been doing other equally unproductive things like playing on Facebook and reading blogs. I don’t know what I’d do if it weren’t for my Crystal Texas Wild Blue Service. I have access to news, email and my beloved social networking sites that is reliable and affordable. It also gives me alternative sources of Kardashian information, so I can know the stuff the E! is leaving out. I wish I was kidding, but this is who I am and how I spend my time when I’ve been trapped inside.

Hubby’s Gift

Guest written by our friend Mason Abbott

When my husband turned 50 last month I wanted to do something really special for him since he’s always been so good to me. I thought about getting him some kind of accessory for his boat since he spends so much time on the thing but then it hit me…why not get him all those fishing channels he’s always talking about? I went to and got us satellite for the house and he seemed thrilled (well, as thrilled as my husband ever seems.) He actually said that it was really sweet of me to listen to what he wanted and get it instead of just buying something without thinking about it which is about as deep as he’s ever gotten, at least with me! Now he spends every Saturday that he’s not on the lake in front of the TV where he watches other guys catching the big stuff. I guess it won’t be long before I have to get him a deep sea fishing trip for another great gift!

Taking My Parents on an Anniverary Cruise

Guest post written by Derick Burks

I fell in love with cruises after we started taking them each year with my husband’s company. However, my parents have never been on one! This year, we’re taking them for their fiftieth wedding anniversary. They wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise, because the scenery is supposed to be absolutely beautiful there.

Before we leave, we always set our home security alarm (Home Security) since we’ll be gone for the week. Then we take our dogs to the neighbor’s house, so that she can watch them while we’re gone. It’s sort of like a vacation for them, too! We’ll have to drive a ways to pick up my parents on the way to the dock, so we’ll be leaving really early in the morning this Saturday.

Once we take them to the ship, I just know they’ll be amazed by the size and by how many things there are to do on board. My dad will especially love the gambling tournaments and card games, because he has the best luck of anyone I know. My mom, on the other hand, is really looking forward to the formal dinners. She has a great time mingling with people and socializing. Once we land in Alaska, we’ll stay there for an entire day before heading back on the ship. It’ll be such a special trip for them to remember.
